Orley Jr. Vore, 80 of Albany, formerly of Jacksonville, passed away Thursday January 3, 2019 at his residence.  Born May 24, 1938 in Jacksonville, he was the son of the late Orley and Gladys Cox Vore.  He was an avid fan of the Trimble Tomcats.  Anyone who has been a member of the United Mine Workers of America for any length of time knows Brother Orley Vore.  He has been an active member of the UMWA for 45 years.  He is a member of the Local Union 1886 in District 17. His mining career began in March 1973 at the Peabody Coal Company #9 North Mine.  In June of 1973, he started working for Southern Ohio Coal Company at the Meigs #2 Mine.  In 1984, he became President of Local Union 1886 and was also elected to the position of Field Representative of District 6 that same year.  He was a 20 year member of the District 6 Executive Board.  Brother Vore also served on the COMPAC Committee, the Pension Leadership Committee, and the Veterans Committee.  He attended his first Constitutional Convention in 1976 and has attended every Constitutional Convention since.  

He is survived by his wife, Jo Ann Hogue Vore of Albany; 3 daughters, Carolyn (Raymon) Webster of Jacksonville, Linda (Paul) Barrett of Jacksonville, and Jackie (Jim Love) Patton of Glouster; a step son, John (Sheila) Knott of Glouster; 8 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren; and numerous friends.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Rick Vore; first wife, Margaret Withem Vore; second wife, Linda Williams Vore; 3 sisters, Jo Ann Vore, Phyllis Brown and Bea Brown; and a brother, Bobby Brown.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Tuesday January 8, 2019 at the Bishopville Church of Christ 6555 S. State Route 78, Glouster, Ohio 45732.  Interment will be in the Maplewood Cemetery, Glouster.  Friends may call at the church on Monday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m.  Contributions can be made to Ohio Health Hospice, 444 West Union Street, Athens, Ohio 45701.  Arrangements are by the Morrison Funeral Chapel, Glouster-Bishopville.  A comforting message may be sent to the family at www.morrisonfc.com.
