William H. "Willie" Stoncel

William H. “Willie” Stoncel, 94 of Murray City, passed away Wednesday December 5, 2018 at The Laurels of Athens.  Born March 17, 1924 in Murray City, he was the son of the late Tony and Bertha Frantz Stoncel.  He was an Army-Air Force World War II Veteran serving in the European Theater and retired from Goodyear in Logan.  He was a lifetime member and past commander of the Murray City American Legion Post #420, a lifetime member of the Nelsonville V.F.W. Post #3467, and a former member of the Combined Color Guard Unit.  

He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Stella Balabin Stoncel of The Laurels; several nieces and nephews; special friends, Donnie and Teri Cook of Murray City; and a sister-in-law, Helen Ianotti of Detriot, MI.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by 3 brothers, Robert “Rab”, Louis, and Albert Stoncel; and 3 sisters, Agnes Spurges, Frances Bendervich, and Emma Mitchell.

At Willie’s request, he has been cremated.  A celebration of life will be held at a later date.  Arrangements are by the Morrison Funeral Chapel, Glouster-Bishopville.  A comforting message may be sent to the family at www.morrisonfc.com.
