Clifford James Kittle

Clifford James Kittle, 55, of Nelsonville, passed away peacefully at his home Tuesday, September 11, 2018, after an extended illness. Born June 2, 1963, in Nelsonville, he was the son of the late Virgil M. and Judy Kittle, who survives, of Burr Oak.

After graduating Nelsonville-York High School in 1981, Clifford obtained a business degree from Hocking College and Fine Art History and Painting degrees from Ohio University.  Throughout the years he held memorable employment with Paper Circle of Nelsonville, Raphael’s Aveda Salon, and Burr Oak State Park Lodge. He also held a former position on the board of The Nelsonville Restoration Foundation.

Known as a distinguished and dapper gentleman, Clifford left a lasting impression on everyone he met.  A man of many talents, Clifford leaves behind a legacy of art and history.  He spent countless hours researching and archiving hundreds of historic local photographs that he shared with his social media followers.  He was an avid genealogist, musician, and artist.  He loved horticulture, travel, and architecture, particularly of the gothic Victorian era. Clif was especially fond of his Italian Greyhound dogs and loved to spend time pampering them. Clif often longed for “the good ol’ days” and loved to reminisce about bygone eras of childhood.  Time spent with his family at Burr Oak Lake were of some of his most cherished memories.  

Clifford is survived by his mother, Judy Kittle; life partner, Andy Smith; brothers, Virgil (Ruth) Kittle of Burr Oak, Sheldon (Jodie) Kittle of Glouster; sister Judy (Bob) Anders of Dover; nieces and nephews Olivia Kittle, Melinda Young, Lacie Fleming, Lindsay Mark, Larissa Beuhler, Carrie Sokol, Ryan Kittle, Jami Kittle, and Scott Kittle; great-nieces and nephews; cousins; special friend Greg Woodruff; companion and pet Zsa Zsa; loving in-laws; and a host of long-time friends.

Clifford was preceded in death by his father, Virgil M Kittle of Burr Oak.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday September 15, 2018 at the Bishopville Church of Christ, 6555 S. State Route 78 Glouster, Ohio 45732 with John Wright officiating.  Interment will be in the Maplewood Cemetery, Glouster.  Friends may call at the Church on Friday from 2 to 8 p.m.
