James "Ed" Handa

James “Ed” Handa, 71 of Albany, formerly of Glouster, passed away Saturday December 30, 2017 at O’Bleness Memorial Hospital, Athens.  Born January 16, 1946 in Perry County, he was the son of the late James and Juanita Chappelear Handa.  He retired from the Holiday Inn in Athens.  Ed was an outdoorsman, craftsman, and loved spending time with his grandchildren.  

He is survived by his wife, Sharon McLaughlin Handa of Albany; two sons, Mark (Linda) Handa of Hollister and Kenny (Angie) Handa of Nelsonville; a step son, Kent Misner of Tampa, FL; a step daughter, Tammy (Louis) Guy of Glouster; 28 grandchildren and great grandchildren; three brothers, Steve, Mike, and Neil Handa; and a half brother, Bill Handa.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a step son, Kelvin Misner; a sister, Lynn Handa; and two brothers, Kenny and Curt Handa.

A memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. on Saturday January 6, 2018 at the Morrison Funeral Chapel, Glouster-Bishopville.  Family will accept friends from 2 p.m. until the time of service.  Contributions can be made to the American Heart Association, 5445 N High Street, Columbus, Ohio 43210.
