Michael A. Hooper

Michael A. Hooper, 66 of Glouster, passed away September 13, 2017 in Bristol, TN.  He was born May 12, 1951 in Athens to Dorothy Lucille Ball Hooper and the late John M. Hooper.  He retired as a motorman from Meigs Mine #2.  He enjoyed fishing and hunting, was a classic car enthusiast and loved attending car shows, enjoyed coaching youth football, and spending time with his family.

He is survived by his wife, Debra Hooper of Glouster; two sons, Shane Hooper of Glouster and Jonathan (Angie) Hooper of Glouster; one daughter, Shelley R. (Cale) Lewis of Glouster; seven grandchildren, Kayla, Aaron, Harley, Sydney, Jon Michael, Mason and Cooper; two great-grandchildren, Braxton and Carter; two brothers, Terry (Vickie) Hooper of Glouster and Jan (Lara) Hooper of Glouster; and two sisters, Susie (Rich) Love of Trimble and Pam (Bill) Foughty of Georgia; and several nieces and nephews.

Besides his father he was preceded in death by a brother, Duane Hooper.

The funeral services will be held at 1 p.m.  on Sunday September 17, 2017 at the Morrison Funeral Chapel, Glouster-Bishopville.  Interment will be in the Maplewood Cemetery.  Friends may call at the funeral home on Saturday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. and one hour prior to the service on Sunday.  Contributions may be made to the UMWA, 18354 Quantico Gateway Dr., Suite 200, Triangle, VA., 22172.  A comforting message may be sent to the family at www.morrisonfc.com.
