William H. Cox Jr., 66 of Glouster passed away Thursday May 19, 2022, at O’Bleness Memorial Hospital, Athens. Born January 14, 1956, in Trimble, he was the son of the late William H. and Edythe Jenkins Cox. He formerly worked at Rocky Shoes and Boots in Nelsonville and later retired from Quidel DHI in Athens. He was a member of the Glouster Eagles. Bill enjoyed playing cards, working jigsaw puzzles, and was an avid Ohio State Buckeyes fan.
He is survived by his wife, Linda K. Dorton Cox of Glouster; two daughters, Lisa (Mark) Clowes Ridenour of Columbus and Kelly (Mike) Clowes Roach of Lindsey; nine grandsons; two great grandsons; three sisters, Linda (Deb) Canter of Murray City, Cathy Barron of Corning, and Robin “Squeak” Glenn of Buchtel; a special brother-in-law and best friend, James “Jim” Dorton; and several nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Roger Cox.
Funeral service will be held at 12 p.m. on Tuesday May 24, 2022, at the Morrison Funeral Chapel, Glouster-Bishopville. Interment will be in the Taylor Ridge Cemetery, Glouster.
