Maxine Louise Hammon

Maxine Louise Hammon, 80, of Newark, went to be with the Lord, Sunday May 19, 2019 at AlterCare Newark North. She was born February 24, 1939 In Athens, Ohio to the late Marion and Jesse Rutter. Maxine was a devoted woman of God and was a member of Redtown Methodist Church in Redtown, Ohio. She enjoyed playing guitar, Southern Gospel music and, also enjoyed traveling all over Southern Ohio to various Gospel sings and revivals. She was a devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who loved spending time with her son, daughter-in-law, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She is survived by her only son, Andrew (Brandi) Hammon of Buckeye Lake, Ohio: Six Grandchildren, Kayla (Joe) Paul of Jacksonville, Ohio, Emily, Andrew Jr. “AJ”, Chelsea (Michael McManus), Ryan and Conner Hammon all of Buckeye Lake; two Great Grandsons Braxton and Carter Paul of Jacksonville, Ohio; a Sister, Linda Hammon of Glouster, Ohio and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her Husband, Roy Hammon; a Grandson, Dylan Russell; four Sisters, Alice Wise, Mary Stewart, Bonnie Conner and Freda Hammon; and two Brothers, Fred and Marion “June” Rutter.

A memorial service will be held at the burial site after the birth of her new Great Grandson Dylan Michael Hammon-McManus.  Contributions in Maxine’s memory can be made to Hospice of Central Ohio, 2269 Cherry Valley Rd.
