Bonnie Jean Lowery, 84, of Jacksonville passed away on Tuesday April 23, 2024, at O’Bleness Memorial Hospital, Athens. She was born in Rehoboth, Ohio on February 16, 1940. She was the daughter of the late Arsie and Dorothy Vansickle. She retired from Hickory Creek Nursing Home as a Nursing Assistant after 14 years of service. Bonnie was a member of the Oakdale Church of Christ, a member of the Red Cross and Cub Scout leader in Imperial Beach, California, and the Ladies Auxiliary VFW in Jacksonville, Ohio.
She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Martin Wayne Lowery Sr. of Jacksonville; her son, Martin W. Lowery Jr. of Jacksonville; three grandchildren, Cheyenne Newman, Cameron Lowery, and Lindsey Lowery; a great grandchild, Nolan Newman; a brother, William (Jennifer) Vansickle of Bishopville; a sister, Rebecca (Randy) Van Voorhis of Chillicothe; and a sister-in-law, Jean Vansickle of Florida.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Michael Arsie Lowery; a sister, Patricia Weaver; and a brother, Richard Vansickle.
A celebration of life will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday May 6, 2024, at the Bishopville Church of Christ with Brad Seevers officiating. Family will receive friends from 1 p.m. until the time of service. Inurnment will take place in the Maplewood Cemetery, Glouster. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Trimble Band Boosters, c/o Kayla Simons, 22 New St., Glouster, OH 45732.
